United We Stand

This song was inspired by the message of Barack Obama who has spoken about America like he really means it. His voice cuts above the usual corporate messages that we have to filter each day in order to hear the truth of this America.
The truth that every one of us is entitled to a fair and just return on the government we send into office every election cycle. I believe in Barack Obama because his voice resonates within. His words are measured from a higher viewpoint and it is that viewpoint that I always relie upon in my writings and my music.
Think about this for a moment. As citizens all of us pay into our National Treasury where the money is held in trust. This money is designed for the Common Good or at least that is the way I would like it to work. When we have a government that supports a plan to give tax breaks to those whose are in the top one percent of our income brackets what we have happen is this. Any money that is taken in must be gathered from the remaining 99 percent leaving effectively out of the equation that top one percent. What this means is that this top one percent is getting a free ride by not paying their fair share. Income taxes may or may not be fair but I do know that we need to pay for roads, education, defense and all of those things that are for our common good. Excise taxes and their like won’t cut the budget. So we’re stuck with taxes. Those who make money in a country that affords them the ability to do so should not balk at paying their fair share. It is simply being selfish and greedy.
I’m not a millionaire yet but when I become one maybe I’ll gripe about paying taxes but I will also be grateful that I have the ability to do so.
When Republicans speak about tax and spend Democrats I just must point out to them the following. Democrats by spending money on entitlements are simply giving the people back their own money. Now those top one percent may rail at the fact that this money goes into education, or poor neighborhoods, or school lunch programs or health care for children, benefits for veterans and things like that but the fact remains that we are all truly in this together or as my song above says, United We Stand. My point here is that if we are paying taxes we should be getting back that money in one way or another in services or improved infrastructure and yes have enough left over for energy innovation.
It is a sad fact that we do not get what pay for in taxes. Why is this? Because we have people whose greed knows no end. They do no believe in United We Stand. What they believe in is ‘if I can steal it and get away with it I will,’ They have run rampant in their ravages of our Treasury and the laws that were placed in there to safeguard it.
Thanks for stopping by this page and I do hope you’ll vote for Barack Obama and even if you don’t perhaps you’ll take my song to heart. Maybe we’ll be disappointed by him and maybe he’ll turn out to be just another politician out for himself but you know what I just have this feeling that we have to hold on to our dreams including the dream of a politician who actually gets what our America is all about which is the people.
